President Trump’s doctors offered rosy assessments of his condition on Sunday, but the few medical details they disclosed — including his fluctuating oxygen levels and a decision to begin treatment with a steroid drug — suggested to many infectious disease experts that he is suffering a more severe case of Covid-19 than the physicians acknowledged.

As long as he remains of sound mind and not sedated, the president is perfectly capable of carrying out his duties from the quite spiffy facilities at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center just outside Washington. The president tweeted out a video Saturday night recorded at Walter Reed’s presidential suite and was clearly alert and in full command of his faculties.

The President is exhibiting symptoms that one would expect to see a week into illness, not a day into illness. It would be distinctly uncommon for a patient essentially to develop pneumonia the day that they convert… we know that the President has viral pneumonia and is being treated with this intensive triple therapy in the hospital.

…in case there remained any doubt about whether Melania Trump is supportive of her husband’s racist views, buys into all the Donald-elevating falsehoods promoted by the president’s employees and Fox News, and shares with him a governing philosophy that revolves around taunting his political opponents, let these recordings make it absolutely clear: She is, and she does.

Kids were coached to say they were in danger, she said. The beds in the detention facilities are much better than the floors they were used to sleeping on; they love it there. From now and forever, [Trump] will be living proof of the clear and immediate danger of downplaying, suppressing and denying the true severity of the pandemic. It is the same story with the more radical members of Israel’s ultra-Orthodox community, but their stubborn refusal to face to reality is possibly coming to end now one of its most influential leaders, Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, has contracted the disease.

The news out of the White House is sad, but perhaps it can remind us of the sad news all around. We might have Covid-19 fatigue, but the virus does not. The number of people known to have died from Covid-19 has crossed one million worldwide.

We’re in a pandemic. The president got sick. That’s all there is to it.

No other country in the world has so heavily restricted protests amid the pandemic against a leader seen as corrupt. But this isn’t about the virus; it’s about Netanyahu holding on to power.

The long protest, in which the police arrested 38 people and handed out hundreds of tickets, shows that their determination has not weakened at all. The opposite is true… it seems that the attempt to suppress the protests was like dousing a fire with gasoline.

Saturday Night Live’s return to television last night seemed intended to project a reassuring air of normalcy… It certainly felt familiar—the show has managed to largely re-create its normal filming conditions thanks to aggressive testing protocols. But it also felt entirely inadequate.

… this week’s episode of Saturday Night Live wasn’t as bad as it could have been, but it’s pretty clear that events are moving too quickly for the writers to keep pace. These things take time; 64 years passed before the death of Stalin led to The Death of Stalin. That means we can expect the definitive satirical look at the coronavirus pandemic when Saturday Night Live returns for its 109th season, sometime in the fall of 2084.

The season kickoff of “Saturday Night Live” has reminded us yet again of why Donald Trump hates the show so much he once called for it to be canceled. In fact, it was “SNL” that underscored two of the most powerful arguments for why it’s the Trump presidency — not the show that satirizes him — that should be canceled this November.
