For the sake of Democrats, the President will have to do more than say the situation is worrisome. He will need to forcefully address how he is dealing with these concerns and how his policies will help to alleviate, rather than aggravate, the underlying pressures causing Americans to pay more for their goods.

We shifted our spending toward stuff, rather than services… And many of us elected to stop working, or work less… The shortage of workers has led employers to offer higher wages to attract employees. That fuels price increases even in services experiencing underwhelming demand, like restaurant meals.

Republicans, the media and even President Biden seem to be laboring under a common delusion: that presidents can control prices.

They can’t, inconvenient though that may be for everyone involved.

By acknowledging how long-standing practices and beliefs have negatively influenced the health of millions in the U.S. and shaped the unequal health system that exists today, we take steps toward a more equitable future. So too must we continuously reexamine the role of language and question the long-held dominant narratives that exacerbate inequities in health care.

A language guide can be worthwhile even if it gets a few things wrong. But Advancing Health Equity is rife with specious reasoning, questionable assumptions, and dubious judgments, all presented in an effort to get doctors talking like ideologues of the social-justice left.

Like most other reports written by bureaucratic working groups, “Advancing Health Equity” would probably be read by almost no one if it did not inadvertently advance the right-wing narrative that progressive newspeak is colonizing every aspect of American life.
